December’s Children (and Everybody’s)
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
December’s Children (and Everybody’s) · December's Children (and Everybody's) was, in November 1965, the Rolling Stones' fifth American album, but not really a true album. There were no separate recording sessions. The record consists mainly of songs from earlier British albums, singles and EPs that had not yet been heard in America, supplemented with a few unused recordings. Most of the tracks were recorded on 5 and 6 September 1965 at the RCA studio in Hollywood. Jagger later called it a collection of songs. The title came from manager Andrew Loog Oldham.
It is the last early album with many covers: Jagger and Richards wrote only half of it themselves. The record includes Get Off of My Cloud, the group's second American number 1. It also features As Tears Go By, their own version of a song that Marianne Faithfull had recorded earlier. The album reached number 4 in the United States and went gold.
