Speak Now

Speak Now · After the success of Fearless, Taylor Swift began on the next album straight away. She wrote it in 2009 and 2010 on tour, entirely on her own, because there was no co-writer on the road. The record is a loose concept album about things she still wanted to say to certain people. With producer Nathan Chapman she mixed country pop, country rock and power pop, with acoustic instruments, ringing electric guitars and strings.

Back to December asks an ex for forgiveness. In Speak Now the protagonist disrupts a wedding. Mean was about her critics and won a Grammy for Best Country Song. The album spent six weeks at the top of the Billboard 200. Critics praised the melodies and the emotion, although some found the confrontational songs superficial.
