Human Being

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Human Being is Seal's third studio album and was released in 1998. Trevor Horn produced it. Seal wrote the title song about the murdered rappers Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. The cover photograph is by the French fashion photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

Reactions varied. Some critics found the record too dark and gloomy, others called it pure pop perfection. A remix of Lost My Faith played over the end credits of the film Entrapment in 1999. In the music video for the single, Seal appears in footage from the film, alongside Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Many guest musicians worked on the album, among them William Orbit, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, and there were arrangers for the strings.
