Double Booked

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Double Booked is the fourth studio album by the American pianist and producer Robert Glasper and was released on 25 August 2009 on Blue Note Records. It was recorded in New York, at Systems 2 Studios and Brooklyn Recording. He produced the album entirely himself. The two halves have different line-ups. On the first six tracks Vicente Archer plays double bass; on the last six, Derrick Hodge on bass guitar and Casey Benjamin on alto saxophone and vocoder can be heard. Drummer Chris Dave plays throughout.

The album also features guests. Terence Blanchard lends his voice, Mos Def raps and Questlove chimes in on one track. Bilal sings on the last two pieces, and Jahi Sundance spins scratches on the closing track.
