On 27 July 1987 Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley was released; he had first worked as an assistant in the Stock Aitken Waterman studio. His deep voice surprised the public: anyone hearing it expected a much older man than the 21-year-old in the video. The song reached number one in 25 countries. Twenty years later it got a second life as an internet prank: rickrolling.
