From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Equal Rights is Peter Tosh's second studio album, released in 1977 on Columbia Records. His previous group was Bob Marley's Wailers. Among those playing on the record are Sly Dunbar on drums and Robbie Shakespeare on bass, and Bunny Wailer sings backing vocals.

Get Up, Stand Up opens the album. He wrote the song together with Bob Marley and it had previously appeared as a single by the Wailers and on Burnin'. Downpressor Man is an adaptation of Sinner Man. I Am That I Am refers to a well-known religious concept. Stepping Razor is by Joe Higgs and is credited to the singer. The New York Times counted it among the best tracks of the year and praised the infectious, urgent music and the sharp lyrics.
