Be What You Want To
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Be What You Want To is a 1973 album by the American guitarist Link Wray. It was recorded in 1972 with many guest musicians: Jerry Garcia plays guitar and pedal steel, Commander Cody piano and keyboards, David Bromberg acoustic and electric guitar. Thomas Jefferson Kaye produced the record. Tom Salisbury plays organ, piano and clavinet and wrote the arrangements for horns and strings.
The eleven tracks are largely the guitarist's own work. There are also Lawdy Miss Clawdy by Lloyd Price and All Cried Out, written by Mann Curtis and Michel Deborah. The title track lasts almost six minutes and opens the record. Besides the guitars, violin, cello, trumpet and saxophones, among others, take part, so that the band is large and varied.
