Joe Cocker!

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Joe Cocker! · Joe Cocker! is his second studio album, released in November 1969. As on the first LP, it consists mainly of covers: Dear Landlord comes from Bob Dylan, Bird on the Wire from Leonard Cohen, She Came In Through the Bathroom Window and Something from the Beatles, and Delta Lady and Hello Little Friend from Leon Russell. One track, That's Your Business Now, he wrote together with Chris Stainton. Denny Cordell and Leon Russell produced the record in Hollywood, at A&M Studios and Sunset Sound.

The Grease Band played on it, the group that had also backed him at Woodstock in August 1969. After this album he parted ways with the band, because he did not want to tour, and formed Mad Dogs and Englishmen with Russell. The album reached number 11 on the Billboard 200 in America, and Delta Lady reached number 10 in England.
