On 18 May 2019 Duncan Laurence won the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv with Arcade, the first Dutch victory since 1975. Two years later the song became popular again through TikTok, this time outside Europe too. It entered the American charts in 2021 and became one of the most streamed Eurovision songs ever. In 2020 the Netherlands was due to host the contest, but it was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
