Sneakin’ Suspicion

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Sneakin’ Suspicion · Sneakin' Suspicion is the fourth album by the English band Dr. Feelgood, from 1977. During the recording the group was on the point of falling apart, because the guitarist, songwriter and focal point Wilko Johnson was leaving. Bert de Coteaux produced. Even so it became a British hit: in June 1977 the album reached number 10 on the albums chart and stayed there for six weeks. The title song was the band's first single on the British chart.

Johnson wrote most of the songs. There are also covers, such as Nothin' Shakin' (But the Leaves on the Trees), Lights Out, You'll Be Mine by Willie Dixon and Hey Mama, Keep Your Big Mouth Shut. In the United States the band found no audience. After this album it did not release a record there until 1980.

Listening

Listening tip. Listen to Lights Out, at under two minutes one of the shortest songs, and notice how quickly the band gets to the point.
