Home Again!
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Home Again! is the fourth studio album by the American folk musician Doc Watson and was released in 1966. He plays guitar, twelve-string guitar, banjo and harmonica, and sings. Merle Watson also plays guitar, and Russ Savakus plays bass. The album has fourteen songs, a mixture of traditionals and original work. He wrote two songs together with the fiddler Gaither Carlton, his father-in-law. At just over six minutes, Matty Groves is the longest song.
In Bruce Eder's AllMusic verdict, this is his most moving folk record. Eder praises the surprisingly warm singing voice, which he compares to that of Burl Ives, but rougher. That voice, he says, is often overlooked because the guitar playing attracts so much attention.
