Horse Stories

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Horse Stories is the third studio album by the Australian group Dirty Three, released on 10 September 1996 by Touch and Go Records. The record was made at Maison Rouge Studios in London. The guitarist Mick Turner designed the cover. The trio from Melbourne plays instrumental music with violin, drums and guitar.

The album also contains I Remember a Time When Once You Used to Love Me, an adaptation of the Greek song Mia phora thymamai, written by Giannis Spanos and originally sung by Arleta. A reviewer wrote that the group had never been so fierce as here: the music smoulders and sometimes flares up within a single wordless song.

Listening

Listening tip. Listen to I Remember a Time When Once You Used to Love Me. Hear how the violin takes the place of the singing voice in this Greek song.
