Surrender
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Diana Ross released Surrender on 6 July 1971 on Motown. It was her third studio album. Ashford & Simpson produced, the songwriting duo who had also overseen her self-titled debut of 1970. Paul Riser wrote all the arrangements. Several of the songs had previously been recorded by other Motown acts, such as Gladys Knight & the Pips, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas and the Four Tops.
The record is R&B and reached number 56 on the Billboard 200 and number 10 on the American R&B chart. In the United Kingdom it reached number 10. Singles were "Remember Me", "Reach Out I'll Be There" and the title track. "Remember Me" reached the American top 20 and the British top ten. The BPI certified the album silver. After "I'm Still Waiting" became a number 1 in the United Kingdom, the record was reissued under that title.
