Breakaway

Breakaway is Art Garfunkel's second solo album. It was released on 14 October 1975 on Columbia Records. Richard Perry produced the record, except for "My Little Town", which was produced by Paul Simon, Garfunkel and Phil Ramone. The album was recorded in 1975 in Los Angeles, New York, London and Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Many session musicians took part, including Larry Knechtel, Steve Cropper and Jim Keltner.

It is soft rock with songs by Stevie Wonder, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Bruce Johnston, among others. "I Only Have Eyes for You" became Garfunkel's first number 1 in the United Kingdom. The album reached number 7 in both the United States and the United Kingdom and was certified platinum in the United States. On the Billboard 200 it thus did less well than its predecessor Angel Clare, which reached number 5.
