I Advance Masked
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
I Advance Masked is a 1982 album by the English guitarists Andy Summers and Robert Fripp. The two had known each other since the early 1960s in Bournemouth. When their bands, The Police and King Crimson, were briefly dormant, they came together to jam, and that led to this album. They recorded it at Arny's Shack in Parkstone, Dorset.
It consists of thirteen instrumental tracks. Each track began with just two guitars; here and there Summers added some bass, percussion or string synthesizer. There are no drums, but according to him you do not miss them. He described the music as partly very accessible and partly avant-garde. The cover is a painting by the American pop artist James Rizzi. The title song was released as a single, with Hardy Country on the B-side.
