S.D. Burman · Sachin Dev Burman came from the royal family of Tripura and grew up with the folk music of Bengal. He first worked as a singer and composer in Calcutta and moved to Bombay in 1944. His songs are simple and melodious, often with Bengali folk melodies and light, airy accompaniment.
