Rupert Gregson-Williams was born in Chichester in 1966 and is an English composer, conductor and music producer, best known for film and television music. He was educated at a choir school, Lancing College and St John's College, Cambridge. He is the younger brother of the film composer Harry Gregson-Williams and a member of the team of composers at Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions.

Music and breakthrough

His film music is wide-ranging. For Hotel Rwanda he received the European Film Award for composers. He also wrote the music for Hacksaw Ridge, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and its sequel, Over the Hedge, Bee Movie, Abominable, Back to the Outback, Made of Honor, The Holiday and The Legend of Tarzan. With Click he began a long collaboration with Adam Sandler, and he composed for many films from Sandler's production company Happy Madison. He has also written music for video games.

Influence

He was nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy Award and also received a BMI Award. His work belongs to the tradition of great orchestral Hollywood music, in which themes and a large orchestra carry the emotion of the images, and shows how film music is nowadays often made by teams working around a studio such as Zimmer's.
