Lena Raine

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist

Lena Raine first worked for six years as a designer and composer at ArenaNet, the maker of Guild Wars 2, in Seattle. She became known with Celeste (2018), a difficult platform game about a girl who climbs a mountain and fights her fears. Raine combined piano with synthesizers and electronic beats. The music grows more intense the higher the player climbs. For Minecraft she wrote Pigstep in 2020, the first new music disc in the game since 2012. For Chicory: A Colorful Tale (2021) she made a warm score with piano, chamber music and electronics. She belongs to a generation of independent game composers who produce everything themselves.
