Fusion! Wes Montgomery with Strings uit 1963 was het eerste album dat Montgomery opnam met een strijkorkest, iets wat later vaker voorkwam op zijn platen voor Verve en A and M. Orrin Keepnews produceerde en Jimmy Jones was dirigent en arrangeur. Naast Montgomery speelden Kenny Burrell op gitaar, Milt Hinton op bas, Osie Johnson op drums en Hank Jones en Dick Hyman op piano en celesta. Daarbij kwamen houtblazer Phil Bodner, twee harpistes, een groep violisten met Gene Orloff als concertmeester, altviolen en vier celli.

Het programma bestaat vooral uit ballades, zoals All the Way, Prelude to a Kiss, My Romance en God Bless the Child, met Pretty Blue van Montgomery zelf. Alleen Tune Up van Miles Davis valt buiten die lijn. De heruitgave in de Original Jazz Classics reeks bevat extra alternatieve opnames. Scott Yanow van AllMusic schreef dat Montgomery's solo's kort en melodieus zijn, maar de jazzinhoud toch vrij hoog is.
