Twistin’ the Night Away · Twistin' the Night Away verscheen in april 1962 bij RCA Victor en was het achtste studioalbum van Sam Cooke. Hugo & Luigi produceerden het. De plaat ontstond toen het opnameteam verhuisde naar de Hollywoodstudio's van RCA Victor. Sammy Lowe, die de vorige twee albums had gedirigeerd, haalde arrangeur René Hall erbij, met wie hij nog bij Keen Records had gewerkt. Hall boekte de hoornspelers Plas Johnson, Jackie Kelso en Jewell Grant.

Het album speelde in op de twistrage, met titels als Twistin' in the Kitchen with Dinah en Camptown Twist, naast The Twist van Hank Ballard. De titelsong haalde nummer negen in de Billboard Hot 100, het album zelf nummer 74 in de albumlijst. Bruce Eder van Allmusic noemde het een van de grote dansalbums van zijn tijd én een briljant soulalbum, dat na veertig jaar nog overeind stond.
