Uit HitStory, de popencyclopedie van School of Rock · Werk

The Movie Album kwam in juni 1967 uit bij Cadet Records. Esmond Edwards produceerde de plaat, die in 1966 werd opgenomen. Ramsey Lewis speelt piano, met Cleveland Eaton op bas en Maurice White op drums. Een orkest en koor onder leiding van Richard Evans vullen het trio aan. Het album bevat themamuziek uit verschillende speelfilms.

Onder de nummers staan Theme from The Pawnbroker van Quincy Jones, From Russia with Love, The Shadow of Your Smile en The Gentle Rain. Evans schreef zelf Saturday Night After the Movies en Goin' Hollywood. De plaat bereikte nummer 5 op de Billboard lijst van best verkopende jazzalbums. AllMusic gaf twee van de vijf sterren.
