Pierre Boulez

Pierre Boulez studeerde bij Messiaen in Parijs en werd na de oorlog de scherpste woordvoerder van de avant-garde. Hij breidde de reekstechniek van Webern uit naar toonduur, sterkte en klankkleur. Zijn Le marteau sans maître uit 1955, op gedichten van René Char, zet een altstem naast altfluit, altviool, gitaar, vibrafoon en slagwerk, in een lichte, flonkerende klank. Later richtte hij het onderzoeksinstituut IRCAM op en werd hij een vermaard dirigent.
