Blowin’ Your Mind!
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Blowin’ Your Mind! · Blowin' Your Mind! is Van Morrison's first solo record, released in 1967. He recorded the songs on 28 and 29 March 1967, intended for four separate singles. Producer Bert Berns put an album together from them without his consent. Shortly before, Morrison had signed a contract with Bang Records that deprived him of almost all control. He hated the psychedelic sleeve design, because it misrepresented his music.
The album contains Brown Eyed Girl, his first solo smash. T.B. Sheets is a long, drawn-out song, and He Ain't Give You None mentions places in London. AllMusic gave three stars and saw the record as a preliminary study for Astral Weeks. Rolling Stone placed it among the forty essential albums of 1967.
