Kinda Kinks

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Kinda Kinks · Kinda Kinks is the second studio album by the Kinks. Pye released it in the United Kingdom on 5 March 1965; the American release on Reprise followed on 11 August and differs: three tracks are missing and the singles Set Me Free and Everybody's Gonna Be Happy have been added. Recording took place right after a tour of Asia, and everything was finished and released within two weeks.

The result was a rushed production. Ray Davies was not satisfied: producer Shel Talmy had left too many rough edges in. Even so, the record contained better songs than the debut. Tired of Waiting for You became a number 1 in the British singles chart and the album reached number 3. AllMusic called it uneven, but saw a growing craftsmanship in Davies's songwriting.
