Broken Barricades
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Broken Barricades is the fifth album by the English rock band Procol Harum. It was released in April 1971, in the same week the group began an American tour, and on 11 June 1971 in the United Kingdom. It was the last album on which guitarist Robin Trower played, until The Prodigal Stranger in 1991.
Chris Thomas produced the album. Song for a Dreamer is a tribute by Trower to Jimi Hendrix, whose death in September 1970 had deeply affected him. Trower sings this track himself, as well as Poor Mohammed. The rest is sung by Gary Brooker, who also plays piano. Chris Copping plays bass and organ and B. J. Wilson drums, while Keith Reid wrote the lyrics. The die-cut cover was designed by C.C.S. Associates, with photos of the four musicians from left to right.
