Oerend hard

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song

In 1977, Normaal from the Achterhoek had a hit with Oerend hard, about two drunk motorcyclists and an accident, sung in the Achterhoek dialect. It was probably the first hit in a regional language. The band around singer Bennie Jolink had been founded in 1974 and played raw farmers' rock, in clogs and overalls. Dialect was the language of an identity of its own, of a region that would not be represented by Amsterdam or Hilversum.

Listening

Listening tip. Put Oerend hard next to Radar Love: two rock songs about the road that nobody would ever confuse with one another.
