The Loco-Motion

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song

Eva Boyd was the babysitter of Carole King and Gerry Goffin. Because she could sing well, she recorded the demo of The Loco-Motion, the trial recording with which writers tried to sell a song to an artist. That demo sounded so good that it was released as a single, under the name Little Eva. On 25 August 1962 the song was at the top of the American chart. Writing and release lay very close together.

Listening

Listening tip. Hear the handclaps and the girl explaining how to do the dance. A demo that became a worldwide hit.
