Keep the Fire

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Keep the Fire is the third studio album by the American singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins and was released on 26 September 1979. Tom Dowd produced the record. The best-known track is the single This Is It, co-written by Michael McDonald, who also plays on it. Michael Jackson sings backing vocals on Who's Right, Who's Wrong, and Michael Brecker plays a saxophone solo on it.

Rolling Stone called the album the new sound of Southern California: polished, jazzy pop rock from an expanded band, in which guitar and keyboards are equally important. The magazine also spoke of a romantic atmosphere around a voice that would suit a matinee idol. A Canadian newspaper felt that he occasionally slipped back into the cheerful rock sound of Loggins and Messina.
