Ik neem je mee

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song

On 17 October 2011, Ik neem je mee by the Nijmegen rapper Gers Pardoel was released. The cheerful love song spent a total of six weeks at number 1 in the Top 40. In 2012 it became the most successful Dutch-language hit ever in the Top 40, a record that was not broken until 2023. Rap in one's own language now belonged entirely in the ordinary hit parade.

Listening

Listening tip. Hear how Gers raps and sings at the same time, over a sunny, simple guitar beat.
