Hocus Pocus

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song

In 1971 Hocus Pocus by Focus was released, the band of organist and flautist Thijs van Leer and guitarist Jan Akkerman. Both were technically strong musicians, but their best-known song turned out to be a joke: a hard guitar riff, a drum break, yodelling, whistling and a flute solo. In 1973 it became a hit in England and America. Prog rock with humour: English bands scarcely dared.

Listening

Listening tip. Count the parts: riff, drum break, yodelling and flute solo. Just try playing it yourself.
