Sabotage
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Sabotage came about in a difficult time. Black Sabbath began the sixth album in February 1975 at Morgan Studios in London, while the band was being sued by former manager Patrick Meehan. That is where the title comes from. Drummer Bill Ward said it was probably the only album made with lawyers in the studio. Guitarist Tony Iommi produced together with Mike Butcher.
The record combines heavy tracks with experiments. Hole in the Sky opens, Symptom of the Universe begins acoustically and turns into fast playing with a jam at the end, and on Supertzar the English Chamber Choir sings. On The Writ, Ozzy Osbourne wrote the lyrics himself. The first reviews were positive. The album was released on 28 July 1975 and is still regarded as a classic, although it became the band's first without platinum in the United States.
