I Love You Because

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

This is the sixth album by the American singer Al Martino and was released in 1963. That year it reached number 7 on the Billboard albums chart. The success came from the title song. I Love You Because topped the adult contemporary chart on 25 May 1963 and reached number 3 in the Hot 100 on 1 June.

The record has twelve songs, six on each side. They are short: no song lasts longer than about three minutes. Besides the title song, it includes Bouquet of Roses, Still, You Win Again, It's a Sin and Take These Chains from My Heart. The chart figures show that the singer reached a large audience in 1963, and with an album full of short, direct songs he managed it well.
