Someone Like You
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song
In January 2011 Adele released Someone Like You, from the album 21. She wrote it with the American songwriter Dan Wilson, in two days. The song uses the same chord changes as Let It Be, I-V-vi-IV, but in A, and the piano plays the chords as a rolling motion. After a performance at the Brit Awards it became a number one in England and then in America.
Listening
Listening tip. Hear the piano playing each chord as separate notes one after another, an arpeggio, beneath Adele's voice.
