The World Has Made Me the Man of My Dreams is het zevende studioalbum van Meshell Ndegeocello en verscheen in augustus 2007. Vijf nummers waren al uitgebracht op haar ep The Article 3 uit 2006. In de Verenigde Staten kwam de plaat op nummer 186 van de Billboard 200 en nummer 60 van de R&B-lijst.

Zelf speelt Meshell bas en zingt ze, maar ze haalde veel gasten binnen. Op gitaar horen we onder anderen Doyle Bramhall II en Pat Metheny, op piano Robert Glasper en op drums Deantoni Parks. Verder zingen Oumou Sangare en Thandiswa Mazwai mee, en spelen James Newton fluit, Oliver Lake saxofoon en Graham Haynes cornet. Zo komen op één plaat musici uit jazz, rock en Afrikaanse muziek samen.
