Out of the Cradle is het derde soloalbum van Lindsey Buckingham en verscheen in 1992. Het was zijn eerste plaat na zijn vertrek bij Fleetwood Mac in 1987. De titel komt van een gedicht van Walt Whitman. Na een half jaar zonder muziek ging hij werken in zijn thuisstudio in Los Angeles, tien tot twaalf uur per dag. Richard Dashut, die al vaak met hem had gewerkt, hielp als coproducent. Bijna alle instrumenten speelde Buckingham zelf, met overdubs.

Hij koos nu voor gitaren in plaats van synthesizers, vooral akoestische en nylonsnaren. Alles werd in mono direct op de mengtafel opgenomen. Het album heeft meerdere instrumentale inleidingen en twee covers: All My Sorrow en This Nearly Was Mine. Greg Kot noemde het in de Chicago Tribune een schitterend klankfeest. Stephen Holden van The New York Times rekende het tot de tien beste albums van het jaar.
