Silver ’n Strings Play the Music of the Spheres · Dit is het laatste album dat Horace Silver op Blue Note uitbracht. Hij nam het op in Rudy Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, in vier sessies tussen november 1978 en november 1979. In december 1979 volgden de strijkers, onder leiding van Wade Marcus. Silver speelt piano, met Tom Harrell op trompet, Larry Schneider op tenorsaxofoon, Ron Carter op bas en Al Foster op drums.

Het werk is opgebouwd als een reis door drie sferen: de fysieke, de mentale en de spirituele. Elke sfeer heeft eigen delen, met titels als Character Analysis en Communion with the Creator. Silver schreef alle muziek en alle teksten. Gregory Hines zingt op de eerste kant, en Brenda Alford, Carol Lynn Maillard en Chapman Roberts zingen op de derde. Scott Yanow vond dat de zang de muziek wat zwaarder maakt, en dat de titels sommige stukken in de weg stonden.
