Brutal Youth uit 1994 is het veertiende studioalbum van de Engelse zanger en bevat zijn eerste opnames met de Attractions sinds Blood and Chocolate uit 1986. Hij begon met liedjes die hij ook voor Wendy James schreef, eerst met drummer Pete Thomas in Pathway Studios, waar ook My Aim Is True ontstond. Dat klonk te sober, dus verhuisde de opname naar Olympic Studios. Steve Nieve kwam op keyboards en Nick Lowe, vroeger producer, op bas.

Op aandringen van producer Mitchell Froom kwam ook bassist Bruce Thomas terug, zodat de hele band te horen is op vijf nummers. De plaat bereikte plaats twee in de Britse lijst, net als Armed Forces en Get Happy!!.
