Deep in the Heart of Nowhere was het eerste soloalbum van Bob Geldof, de voormalige zanger van The Boomtown Rats. Het verscheen in november 1986. Rupert Hine produceerde bijna alle nummers; This Is the World Calling en In the Pouring Rain kwamen van Jimmy Iovine en The Brothers of Doom. David A. Stewart speelde gitaar en toetsen, en Eric Clapton gitaar op Love Like a Rocket, The Beat of the Night en August Was a Heavy Month.

Op This Is the World Calling zingen Alison Moyet, Maria McKee en Annie Lennox mee. Het nummer was de belangrijkste single en kreeg kort veel airplay op MTV. Ook Love Like a Rocket verscheen als single. In december 1986 stond het album een week op plaats 79 in de Britse albumlijst. In 2005 verscheen het opnieuw, met vier bonusnummers, in de verzameling The Great Songs of Indifference: The Anthology 1986-2001.
